Shock Mount
Shock mounts serve two main purposes in the recording process.
Protect the microphone from unwanted mechanical noise that travels through the ground (or wherever your mic stand is placed) to the diaphragm.
Most allow you to adjust the angle relative to the mic stand for more accurate placement of the microphone
